Baha’is in Iran

Baha'i leaders in Iran

News spread rapidly when an Iranian court sentenced the Yárán-i-Iran (the Friends in Iran) to 20 years in prison. The Yaran are the seven people who formerly served as a coordinating group for the Baha’is in Iran.

The sentence became known on 8 August 2010, following a trial that had involved four court appearances between 12 January and 14 June 2010.

Media across the world picked up the story and government ministers and parliamentarians issued statement condemning the appalling treatment of seven innocent people.

On this page we aim to provide links to some of the statements and some of the media coverage.
